ARC: Connections: Tributes: Dick Wittink
Dick R. Wittink
It is with great sadness that I report that Dick Wittink, the George Rogers Clark Professor of Management and Marketing at the Yale School of Management and Editor of Journal of Marketing Research, passed away
on June 4, 2005, at age 59.
Dick's contributions to both the academic and the practitioner marketing research communities were immense. I have also valued his counsel on many occasions. I know that I speak for all of us in that we will miss him greatly.
Dick is survived by his wife, Marian Bouman Wittink; daughter, Marsha; son, Mark; son-in-law, Josh Owen; daughter-in-law Alicia; grandson, Jasper Owen; and his family residing in the Netherlands, two sisters, Femmy and Tineke, and brother Roelof. Dick and Marian became American citizens on January 21, 2005, which they marked with a celebration at
their home with friends and family.
Yale has provided an obituary for Dick, which also allows people to share their memories of him. Please feel free to share this link with other faculty:

In addition, the AMA has provided Dick’s essay, "An Accidental Venture into Academics," which appeared in the July 2004 issue of Journal of Marketing. Please see the following URL:
